How do you say "" in Mandarin Chinese? (with video, part 1)

1. How do you say "Hello" in Mandarin Chinese?

We usually say "Nín hǎo" or "Nǐ hǎo", for your friends or people who is younger than you, it´s okay to say "Nǐ hǎo", but for people older than you, or someone you want to show your respect, it´s better use "Nín hǎo". It´s also better to say "Nín hǎo", when you meet someone for the first time.
The young people like to say "Hāi", or in a situation that is not very formal, you can just say "Hāi", the pronunciation is almost the same with "hi" in English.

2. How do you say "Good morning" in Mandarin Chinese?

Some people say "Zǎoshang hǎo", "Zǎoshang" means "morning", and "hǎo" means "good", but I usually prefer to say "Zǎo ān", because I think the meaning of the word "ān" is more deep and spiritual than "hǎo",  "ān" means  "peace", "calm down", "don´t worry"...and so on. I hope that people can be well in health and spirituality, that´s why I like the expression  "Zǎo ān".

3. How do you say "Good afternoon" in Mandarin Chinese?

I prefer to say "Wǔ ān", but you also can say "Xiàwǔ hǎo".

4. How do you say "Good night" or "Good evening" in Mandarin Chinese?

For  "Good night" and "Good evening", in Mandarin Chinese, we use the same expression "Wǎn'ān" or "Wǎnshàng hǎo", I prefer to use "Wǎn'ān" : )

5. How do you say "How are you?" in Mandarin Chinese?

Do you still remember how to say "Hello" in Mandarin Chinese? Because if you know how to say "hello" in Mandarin Chinese, it will be very easy for you to say "How are you?" in Mandarin Chinese. 

"How are you" in Mandarin Chinese is "Nín hǎo ma" or "Nǐ hǎo ma", and "hello" is "Nín hǎo" or "Nǐ hǎo", have you realized something? Exactly, the keyword is "ma", in Mandarin Chinese, we use "ma" to form an interrogative sentence (in most cases). This word "ma" is always put at the end of the sentence.

6. How do you say "thank you" in Mandarin Chinese? 

The most common expression is "Xièxiè". The complete expression is "Xièxiènín" or "Xièxiènǐ" 

Of course, there are also another expressions for thank you, but if you are a beginner to learn Mandarin Chinese, it´s better to say "Xièxiè".

7. How do you say "thank you very much" in Mandarin Chinese?

You can say "Fēicháng xièxiè".

8. How  do you say "you´re welcome" in Mandarin Chinese?

The most common expression is "Bù kèqì".

9. How do you say "yes" in Mandarin chinese?

For answering a question, it´s okay to say "Shì", but not always we use "Shì" to say "yes", sometimes it depends on the context of conversation. Anyway,...don´t worry about that, because "Shì" applies to most cases, for exemple, are you a student? If the answer is "Yes", you can say "Shì". "Shì" also is the verb "be" in English.

10. How do you say "no" in Mandarin chinese?

The explanation will be very similar to the previous, For answering a question, it´s okay to say "Bùshì", or just only "Bù", but not always we use "Bùshì" to say "no", sometimes it depends on the context of conversation. Anyway,...don´t worry about that, because "Bùshì" applies to most cases, for exemple, are you a student? If the answer is "No", you can say "Bùshì". "Bù" is also the keyword to form a negative sentence.
